First GroupWise mailer patch
I just completed my first gw mailer fix for bug https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=480091 this week and got the following comment from Dave,
‘Mark reported that for the first time ever he ran all day on Evolution with Chens latest stability patch. Please, let’s get that merged into the the build so that it’s available in all future released. Excellent work.’
It fixes some crashes in folder operations such as refreshing folders/moving mails across folders etc. Such a comment, makes me happy to provide more fixes.
keep dreaming the future
‘It is good to have dreams. In fact to achieve something we must have dreams and when dreams do get shattered know that only a dream got shattered. Go ahead and create fresh dreams. We cannot keep weeping on a lost dream.’
Heard this as an answer for a question in one of the recent oneness programs. These keep me motivated.

Meditation at onenesss temple
I had been to the oneness temple for a meditation session yesterday. The event was well organized and there were around 300 people out there. I met my mother after a month and was happy to be in the temple after ~4 months. Its always nice to be in this temple.

Recession time and our team was downsized
It has been a while since recession has crept in. I know some of the individuals who have done so well in the past have left now just because they cost high as they are from US or Germany. The truth is, am still working in the same team just because am in India.
To provide justice for the people who have left, I need to start raising my level of contribution. My friend gave me the movie, ‘Revolution OS (Linux Story)’ at the right time which is keeping my motivation running. Am just going to hold on to, ‘learn, share and contribute’.
I had to change the svn url in git. The following links helped me,

I have not tried http://www.sanityinc.com/articles/relocating-git-svn-repositories yet.
slumdog millionaire
Watched the movie yesterday (Republic day). After a long time after wal-E, was happy to watch a good movie! Its about a guy from slum becoming a millionaire through the Tv program. Anil kapoor is unable to digest this fact. So he wants the police to inquire him. The story starts from police station where the guy jamal, explains how he knew the answers from his life. The movie portrays how the people from slums grow up and the difficulties they face. The most important theme is, ‘luck always favors the brave’. Jamal and his brother face every situations bravely and more importantly they are happy with what they have! They keep enjoying every moment in life, irrespective of where they are. And that explains all. Finally police understand that Jamal is pure at heart. Jamal while becoming a millionaire also gets his girl friend back. Jai ho song at the end made us all stay and watch the names of the actors which come at last for which mostly I don sit patiently. On the whole a very nice movie and worth to watch in a theatre.
Libical system timezone integration
EDS uses libical library for accessing timezone information. Libical used to maintain its own timezone data and we had to update it, if any zoneinfo changes. With GNOME 2.19.6 libical would read timezones from the system, stored generally at /usr/share/zoneinfo or /usr/lib/zoneinfo or /etc/zoneinfo. The timezone files in libical are not yet removed since win32 would need them. My special thanks to Milan for testing the patch and fixing a crash in 64 bit arch. I thank sankar and andre too for the same. I have tested it throughly in 32 bit machine. Akhil will be building evo in 64 bit machine and will be testing it more. If anyone find any issues, please let know and you will be getting a fix immediately
I will work out a patch for win32 too during sometime and remove all the files which we maintain in libical. Now except for systems which use windows, all the others can get the latest time zone using libical.
Compiz rocks !!
I started installing opensuse-10.3 using DVD and it took around 4 hours to complete. The system was dead slow. I heard from nags that it was due to the ata driver, may be its not compatible with the hardware in my connoi laptop. Then i just reinstalled opensuse-10.2. I tried using compiz for sometime as sankar wanted it for a demo to the campus students from our college. But it was pretty slow. I thought it cant use for development environment. But in a shortwhile nags, suggested me to update xgl, compiz from http://software.opensuse.org/download/X11:/XGL/openSUSE_10.2/ . Now its super fast !! Am using it in my development environment
It simply rocks …
